What is a Learning Lab?

A learning lab provides a “space” for creative thinking and idea generation that tends to be suppressed under normal working conditions. By assembling representatives from organizations with diverse perspectives on specific topics, a learning lab is a catalyst for multi-disciplinary, applied research that yields relevant, strategic information for companies.

What does a BoP Learning Lab™ do?

A BoP Learning Lab™ is typically a membership-based consortium of leaders from companies, NGOs, multilateral organizations, and universities. Members work together to discover and implement win-win solutions that open new opportunities for business value creation while simultaneously expanding the development horizon of the world's poorest people and communities in ways that are culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable.

A BoP Learning Lab™ also functions as an information clearing house about the BoP projects that members are associated with.

How are BoP activities related to sustainability?

BoP initiatives try to premise the value they create on environmentally sustainable technologies and socially and culturally appropriate methods.
