South Africa - BoP Learning Lab™

The first Learning Lab of the Southern African "Bottom of the Pyramid" Programme was held 10-12 December 2006 at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Stellenbosch. It marked the start of a Kellogg Foundation-funded initiative to focus on business opportunities and corporate
strategies in lowest income segments of communities, following the BoP-paradigm developed by United States academics and currently spread around the developing world via BoP Learning Labs.

The BoP (Southern African) Programme now constitutes the main activity managed by the USB-based Centre for Sustainable Enterprise [in Africa]. Other units will be added to the Centre's activities, but the BoP-initiative
is likely to remain its core thrust. Prof. Stef Coetzee is the Acting Director of the Centre, Prof Eltie Links the Chairman of the Board and Prof. Thomas the CEO with Ronél Gallie handling the Secretarial and Moses Duma the Research Assistant.
